Frequently Asked Questions

Puppy sizes will vary from litter to litter, depending on the size of the parents. Our sizes listed on our puppies page refer to their fully grown size. Check our Upcoming or Current Litters for more information.

Our puppies will range in coat types from curly to wavy
What are the grooming needs for Goldendoodles?
Goldendoodles need regular grooming, brushing, and maintenance. Check out our grooming article for more info
Do your puppies shed?
There’s no such thing as a 100% non-shedding dog. But, doodles tend to shed way less than the average dog. The degree of shedding varies with the particular breed and generation. See our Generations page for more info
What supplies do I need for my puppy?
You are going to need a crate, many chew & interactive toys, food/water bowls, leash & collar. We send puppies home with some starter food, vitamins, and a blanket with litter scent. See our preparing for your puppy page for more info
Is there a difference between male and female?
Physically, males tend to be larger, but that difference is smaller with smaller breeds. Their reproductive differences mean a few different health concerns (ex: breast cancer for females, prostate issues for males). Temperamentally, both male and female doodles are known to be super friendly and loving companions. No significant difference has been found in terms of aggressiveness, intelligence, and temperament between the sexes, but of course every individual dog is different. So it’s largely a matter of preference. However, if you already have a dog at home, it’s best to adopt a doodle of the opposite gender. Males and females tend to do better together than two dogs of the same gender.
Can we visit to see the puppies?
You can come to visit the puppies once they are 4 weeks old.
Do you microchip puppy?
No we leave that option open for the new family, we strongly encourage it
Do you spay/neuter your puppies?
We do not spay or neuter our puppies prior to going home, but we do have a spay/neuter contract as part of our purchase policy
Can we breed our puppy?
For the protection of the breed and ours lines, we sell our puppies on a strict spay/neuter contract requiring completion by 12months of age.
Will my puppy be crate trained, or house trained?
Puppies will not be crate trained when they come home at 8 weeks old, but they will have had a good introduction to being in a crate as part of our socialization program. Likewise, at 8 weeks puppies are too young to be fully house trained.
As they grow older in our care, they have a separate “bathroom” area, and will thus have some progress towards house training depending on what age they go home.
Do you have a health warranty?
We have a 2 Year genetic Health Guarantee. You can get more information by contacting us via email at Madison@doodlesinparadise.org or message us on our contact page.
Have the puppies been socialized?
We have a socialization program for all of our puppies to ensure they are properly introduced to the world in a positive and confidence-building manner that promotes their cognitive development. But socialization primarily takes place after your puppy goes home, from 8-16 weeks old. It’s important that you carry forward their socialization. We provide a guide on how to socialize your puppy, you can view it here.
